Greater Columbus at a Glance
Miles of suburbs that extend beyond the Columbus
city limits surround the Ohio capital's
towering high-rise buildings. Known for much more than its high-tech companies,
this metropolitan area is a bubbling tourist destination with plenty of cultural
attractions, dining options and recreational opportunities. Walk or bike the
city's extensive park system, or venture outside Columbus to one of several
nearby state parks and nature preserves, including Madison
Lake, Alum
Creek and Pickerington
Ponds. The area is rife with public golf courses, and each year Muirfield
Village Golf Club in Dublin
plays host to the famous Memorial
Tournament. For family-friendly adventure and excitement, Wyandot
Lake Adventure Park lies next door to the Columbus
Zoo in Powell.
Another popular attraction is the Motorcycle
Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington,
which features four galleries housing motorcycles that range from antiques to
present-day designs. Newark
is the site of several large American Indian mounds and a number of cultural
attractions, including the Ohio Indian
Art Museum.
